Hi! My name is Sarah, and I would love for your family to get to know me more. A few of my hobbies are horseback riding, reading, playing the piano, and camping. I am currently a freshman at University of Wisconsin River Falls. I am going to school to be an elementary school teacher and am hoping to get my master’s degree in special education. I have a passion working with kids and special needs. I have had a couple of nanny jobs this past year along with being a PCA for my great aunt who also has autism. I love being outside as much as possible, reading, and doing lots of hands-on actives with kids. I try to stay away from the tv and electronics as much as possible with kids. Before becoming a nanny, I helped out with Sunday school at my church., along with some babysitting jobs for family friends or neighbors on the weekends.
My first full time nanny job was last March. I worked with this family from March to June full time. I watched a 3-year-old girl (F) and a 6-year-old boy (R). I would help with their morning routines including making breakfast, getting dressed, bathing, and brushing their teeth. I helped them with school during the day and did as many creative actives as possible during their free time. I also taught R some of the basics of playing the piano. I love making homemade play dough and homemade crayons with the kids. Along with that we were outside at least twice a day, as the weather permitted, and read lots of books. I also did some household chores. I always clean up after the kids (with their help too), do dishes and help with laundry. I left this job with thinking I was leaving for AIT for the National Guard, but my plans changed later on.
My second and most recent nanny job I was a PCA/Nanny for an 8-year-old boy who has autism. I have been with this family since July of last year. With him, I was mainly focused on finding him actives to do other than video games. During the summer we would go swimming at least once a week, go to Urban Air, play with kenotic sand, and go for walks. I also would prepare meals for him, give him his medication throughout the day, drive him to his doctor appoints, run errands for the family, and clean up the house some (laundry, dishes, picking up toys). I also did distance learning with him. I would assist him with his schoolwork and make sure he was logged onto his calls during the day. I just recently left this job at the end of January full time due to him returning back to school full time. I still do occasionally babysit when needed.
