University of California Irvine, California, School of Physics and Astronomy
Advisor: Professor Huolin Xin (September 2020-Present)
Conducting the loading of noble metals ions onto nitrogen and sulfur doped amorphous carbon to create an anode material for a high charge density, efficient, and stable commercial lithium metal battery candidate.
Received hands on experience with cutting edge edge spectroscopy technologies and instruments used to identify and characterize materials.
Nanjing University, China, School Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
Advisor: Professor Jin Zhu (June-August 2019)
Gained experience and knowledge with organic chemistry and various instruments used to conduct organic chemical reactions.
Conducted Organic Synthesis of Spiro[indene-1,4’-oxa-zolidinones]
Honed fluency of Chinese in an academic environment
Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts
Department of Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering
Advisor: Professor Jin-Xin Cheng (June-September 2018)
Used COMSOL Multiphysics to simulate the viability of a needle-like instrument with a fiber-optic laser paired with an epoxy and graphite tip that can be used to noninvasively activate neurons mechanically via the photoacoustic effect
Gained experience with various optical and laser technologies
Experimented with creating the physical instrument, however, due to time constraints, could not get a working prototype
