Jefferson County Teen Court Volunteer

Teen Court is an alternative approach to juvenile justice where teen defendants are held accountable for their actions by peers without acquiring a juvenile record. Volunteers rotate roles of clerk, bailiff, attorney, and juror while learning about the federal and state laws.

High school counselors nominate two students who exhibit leadership skills and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. These students are invited to apply for a two-day leadership workshop designed to engage and train future leaders. I was the sole representative of my high school and spent two days working with other student leaders, participating in fast-paced workshops, and developing strong group and individual organizational skills.
