Greetings, June 26, 2019

I have had the pleasure and great fortune to work with youth since the age of 17 when I took a job in Tempe, AZ for a children’s hospital for special needs kids. I began coaching the following year at the age of 18. I have worked with kids in education or youth service and coaching my entire working/adult life.

After serving my country for 15 years in the Army, including five years at the Veteran Services Office at Arizona State University, I went into the Special Education field. I have had the honor of working with the Department of Education, Department of Human Services, Department of Health, Department of Labor, and private/special needs schools as a special educator.

Some of the highlights include:

Mexico: Work with the DOE Mexico and Catholic schools
Playing with youth in China at a sports/academic academy
Head and assistant coach in Special Olympics Colorado Springs
Army Adopt-A-School tutoring program
National Chair for Special Needs Tennis-United States Professional Tennis Association
Military Liaison for Summer of Tennis (for abused, at-risk youth)
Peterson Air Base Coach (Air Force Recreation Center)
Coaching Hawaii School for the Deaf and Blind
Youth Coordinator for Lutheran Church
Accreditation Committee for Cienega High School (Arizona)
Ten year coach for Kaimuki Christian School-Summer Fun Program
Five year coach and teacher for Hongwanji Mission School
20+ years working with the DOE Arizona & DOE Hawaii as Special Education Certified Teacher
Internship placement and student services at Hawaii Business College
Internship placement at Goodwill’s Ola I Ka Hana program for both in and out of school youth
Hawaiian Charter School teaching and coaching work, including heading up bringing the Native American program called Standing Tall Tennis to Hawaiian youth(STT-Hawaii). The youth of the charter school worked with Lakota Sioux artist Jim Yellowhawk on the artwork. We filmed the program using Olelo Television cameras.

I include my resume and references. Thank you for your time and consideration. It has been my honor to serve: soldiering, in veteran
services, teaching, coaching, and doing youth work. I have lived and worked on Oahu for 21+ years (1998-present).

Thank you, Robert Beckvall
