A. I work as a paraeducator for Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 serving kids with intellectual and emotional disabilities. I also serve as part time Director of Music Ministries at Palmyra Church of the Brethren in Palmyra, PA. At Palmyra CoB, I facilitate the choral (Chancel Choir, Mens and Womens Ensembles), handbell, and praise team programs, participate in the planning of the worship services, and organize special musical events for the church. I also coordinate the Summer Melodies musical offerings for summer worship. I received my certification in Church Music through Virginia Wesleyan University in 2015 and a BS degree in elementary and special education from Millersville University in 1991. In the summer of 2017 I began my Masters of Church Music degree program at Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. I maintain memberships in Handbell Musicians of America Area 2, the Lancaster and Harrisburg, PA Chapters of the AGO as well as ACDA, The Hymn Society, UCC Musicians Association and the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians. As time permits, I sing with the Elizabethtown College Community Choir and serve as Festival Coordinator for the Central PA Handbell Festival. Originally from Boyertown, PA, I now reside in Mount Joy with my husband Brent and our dogs Louie and Penny. I am a former innkeeper having converted a private residence into an Award Winning Bed & Breakfast. I enjoy working in my yard, trips to the beach, and watching my son Addison play his trombone in concert band, jazz band, marching band and youth honor band.

B. I believe in lifelong learning. Here are some of my most recent accomplishments:

In August 2018 I attended a workshop in Philadelphia sponsored by GIA to learn about the songs of faith and history of Sacred Music in America especially in the African American Tradition.

In September 2018 I attended an intergenerational workshop at Kirkenwald in Lebanon, PA focused on ways the whole community can engage in singing and liturgy. Friday evening included a community SING (music from varied traditions and cultures), and Saturday was spent in worship and learning together sharing paperless music and leadership practices with families. The workshop was highly participatory and kinesthetic. Sponsored by Music That Makes Community. Instructed by Paul Vasile.

In January 2019, I attended the Choral Kaleidoscope workshop at Duquesne University. The guest clinician, Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt, Professor Emeritus at the University of Toronto, presented engaging sessions on rehearsal technique, podium leadership, and a conducting masterclass with the Duquesne Voices of Spirit. Dr. Caron Daley, Director of Choral Activities at Duquesne University, lead sessions on movement in the choral rehearsal and re-tooling your conducting gesture.

D. My strengths include instruction, direction, leadership, and coordination as well as networking and recruiting. My weakest area would be that of keyboard skills as they relate to accompanying. I'm very fortunate that in my current position I have an organist and pianist which allows me to concentrate on organizing and facilitating the music ministry of the church. I love working at Palmyra CoB and have developed many good relationships at the church. The congregation takes pride in being a teaching church and have been very supportive of my professional development and continued learning.

E. For me, being a church musician isnt just about the choir and the praise band; its about being a servant of God and nurturing those in your presence every day. I want others to find comfort and peace knowing that they are children of God and as such are welcomed to fully participate in the ministry of the church.
