Jack Of All Trades

AMBER CARROLL

A jack of all trades, a nickname for me that my father gave me in my teenage years that has rang true through my adulthood. A person who has dabbled in many skills, rather than gaining expertise by focusing on one, a person who has a wide variety of knowledge and has become competent in various fields. However, the figure of speech also describes the individual with being a master of none which isn't something I would characterize with myself. My expertise is in my people skills and knack for leadership. I have thorough experience in customer service in various lines of work; managing adults, teenagers, and at times children alike. I have been told that my delivery of training and delegation is done in good taste. I see my teamwork and management skills are direct when it comes to the importance of a task without micromanaging or sounding demanding. Whether I am a part of a team or leading the team, I am wired to use my various areas of knowledge to get the job done.

EXPERIENCE
NOVEMBER 2018 CURRENT
SALES ASSOCIATE, GENERAL NUTRITION CENTER
My job consists of helping customers find the supplements that will address their individual needs. I also spend a lot of time informing them about the benefits the supplements provide, as well as what their actual effects they will have. I take pride in helping my customers and making sure they are informed.
MARCH 2018 NOVEMBER 2018
RECREATIONAL GYMNASTICS DIRECTOR, 5280 GYMNASTICS
Most of my job was coaching various levels of recreational gymnastics for children from the age of 18 months to 13 years old. I planned and organized the progress of around 50 kids and would occasionally run events with up to 30-40 children at a time.
SEPTEMBER 2015 MAY 2016
CLUB DIRECTOR/HEAD COACH, GREEN MOUNTAIN VOLLEYBALL CLUB LLC
I put together a lot cost club for girls in my hometown that couldnt afford 3-5k a season for club, but still needed experience before being able to make a high school team. Full disclosure, I loved those girls and didnt have the heart to tell them they couldnt play when their parents didnt pay me. As a result, my business wasnt successful, but I was passionate about my work and we had a good season. My girls made their teams and while I lost money I would do it all again. This LLC is
one of the things that I am the proudest of, despite its downfall.
NOVEMBER 2014 SEPTEMBER 2017
CATERING/ASSISTANT MANAGER, JIMMY JOHNS
I ran the catering for a time in Denver at one store while assisting the managing of shifts and employees at both downtown locations. I also worked in a Lakewood store and eventually ended up managing a store in Austin, Tx for the summer of 2016. This job allowed me to find ways to successfully manage people twice my age as well as those who are only just getting their first job at 16.
APRIL 2016 NOVEMBER 2016
HOSTESS, YARD HOUSE
I was tasked with small restaurant operations and customer service. Yard house is an extremely busy restaurant in Denver and the customers can range anywhere from wild and drunk to angry and offensive. This job really taught me to sympathize with people and I learned to de escalate situations. Ive got tough skin and 30 parties out the door at 12 am would make anyone sweat, but I pride myself in my composure during stressful situations.
EDUCATION
DECEMBER 2019
ASSOCIATE OF ARTS W/A FOCUS IN PHILOSOPHY, RED ROCKS COMMUNITY
COLLEGE
I plan to use this degree to get myself into political theory. I find both politics and philosophy to be extremely important in todays day and age. I intend to influence politics with renewed philosophy.
JUNE 2015
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, BEAR CREEK HIGH SCHOOL
While in high school, I worked around 40 hours a week and often held two jobs at once.

ACTIVITIES
Every week I make it a priority to put in work at a gym and play volleyball. I lift because it teaches me to persevere, I also find tremendous value in literal and metaphorical progress that isn't easily achieved. I make time to play volleyball because I think playing a sport on a team has a heavy hand in determining how well a person works with others. I play drop in, so more often than not I am playing
with strangers. This is a lesson every game because I have to learn how to work with people I have never met. I have found that everyone has their own form of teamwork and I put in time to make sure that mine is versatile. A sport may strike you as an interesting activity to include in a resume, but I think it is an important side of me that has heavily influenced my people skills in very positive ways. I would love to write down everything about me that makes me qualified; but I am much better at
stating my case in a conversation. My demeanor will speak for itself.
