Required for non-piano performance undergraduate students within ongoing degrees in music. Students are required to take four consecutive semesters. The course aimed for the students to achieve a comprehensive ability by utilizing and integrating diverse functional keyboard skills. Course objectives covered critical implements, structured from music theory to various hands-on executions. Students learned sets of functional keyboard skills via group classroom environment and engaged heavily in activities employed by ensemble playing with a pair or larger group.
o MVK 1411
This course was opened to vocal major students, in a private lesson one-on-one style. The goal of the study was to let singers learn how to accompany themselves by standing by their perspective, and to learn the form of collaboration with pianists. Students primarily focused on the role of being an accompanist. They learned sets of skills and collaborative expectations for the accompanist when interacting with singers. Vocal repertoires were selected from the genre of Romantic Lieders, Broadway collections, acts or scenes from Operatic music, etc. Stylistic features lay on the timeline between the 19th to the 21st century.
