Work History

King County West Point Wastewater Treatment Plant Laboratory
Process Laboratory Specialist 1 (Budgetary Layoff) January 2018 - October 2018

? Performed laboratory analysis on water samples as required by NPDES and Standard Methods of Water Analysis to determine chemical, biological and physical properties.
? Performed water chemistry tests on water and wastewater samples such as solids, fecal coliform, pH, alkalinity, volatile acids, chlorine residual, chemical oxygen demand, biochemical oxygen demand analyses, Bisulfite analysis, Cationic Polymer analysis.
? Maintained and calibrated laboratory instruments used for measuring water quality such as temperature probes, pH probes, conductivity probes, incubators, autosamplers, dissolved oxygen probes, turbidity instruments, UV photospectrometers.
? Utilized PPE to protect myself from worksite and microbiological hazards.
? Collected water samples for laboratory analysis in chemical, bacteriological and physical properties.
? Compared and analyzed water quality data obtained from standardized testing to standard guidelines set by the King County Chief Lab Analyst at this location.
? Identified unusual test results and reran experimental results with duplicate measurements to confirm abnormal results. Information was passed to the Chief Process Analyst and to appropriate Process Analysts in charge of facility operations.
? Troubleshooted equipment failure and troubleshoot unusual testing results to rule out equipment or user error.
? Database entry and data management into internal database software. This data was aggregated on Hach WIMS to ensure plant effluent passed NPDES requirements.
? Maintained active bacteria cultures and incubators from water samples to determine
pathogenic content of water samples.
? Performed analysis of hazardous chemicals in fume hoods. Disposed of caustic, acidic and hazardous chemical compounds in accordance with environmental guidelines.
? Performed chemical quality assurance testing on large scale chemical purchases from vendors used in critical plant processes to ensure quality reagent delivered to this facility.
? Reported chemicals purchased from vendors that failed minimum quality standards to the Chief Process Analyst.
? Periodically adjust order of experimental execution to accommodate planned or
unplanned outages and meetings to ensure reporting guidelines for permits were met.
? Sterilized equipment, sterilized media, sterilization of biohazardous waste, prepared lab standards, ensured clean working environment, kept inventory of reagents and
consumables

Kelly Lee Lab of Biophysics at the University of Washington
Research Technician (Budgetary Layoff) June 2015 - February 2016
Undergraduate Research Assistant January 2013 - June 2015

? Executed standard molecular biological techniques independently after consistent satisfactory performance under senior lab supervision such as:
- Gel Electroplates (multiple forms), Gel DNA extractions, Western Blots
- PCR, Cell Transformation, site directed mutagenesis, bacterial culturing
- High purity large scale DNA extractions for sequencing and transfection
- Human Cell Culture, Human Cell Transfection, Protein Separation
- Quantification of DNA using photospectrometers and NanoDrop instruments
? Created reagent standards, cleaned and sterilized glassware, disposed biohazardous waste
? Monitored human cell cultures by maintaining sterile environments. Quantified cell
populations.
? Handled HIV proteins from transfected cells in biosafety cabinets
? Searched for and made recommendations on equipment based on budgetary needs
? Provided data from testing results to senior research scientists
? Searched for and made recommendations on equipment based on budgetary needs
? Repaired laboratory equipment
? Copied research documents and forwarded materials to other lab members

? Gave Presentations biweekly and gave alternative explanations to materials
? Utilized student feedback and grades to create more effective study materials
? Worked with other staff to organize study nights
? Assisted engineering students with questions regarding Physics, Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry.

Wenatchee Valley College April 2010 to September 2012
Chemistry Tutor / Math Tutor

? Developed General Chemistry exam materials and lecture materials independently from the instructor. Gave materials to the Head Instructor to ensure quality of materials.
? Helped students from Pre-Algebra to Calculus and Business Calculus with homework.
? Assisted students with Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry work.
? Wrote Chemistry lecture reviews and gave supplementary Q&A sessions for working
adults during evening sessions.
? Assist physically disabled students to succeed in Chemistry when requested.
