I’m currently a senior at Queens College studying philosophy and psychology. Two summers ago I began interning at a day program where we provided a warm environment for individuals with disabilities. There, I found my passion for working with the public. Daily, I assisted a group of about seven to twelve people with developmental disabilities. Although the work was very rewarding, I realized my passion was working with animals I began working for Rover in 2016 and through that, I was able to learn how to handle dogs of different sizes and breeds and to administer medication to cats. I began working at Animal Care Centers this February, where I got a real taste of a fast paced animal environment. I’ve officially been trained in low stress dog handling, and nursing kittens. Through my everyday work I’ve learned how to handle dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments, birds, and other wildlife. I also have three years experience in sales, where I was expected to organize meetings between vendors and clients. Overall, all jobs I’ve worked have cultivated my passion for working with animals, and people in need. I’ve been told I’m highly energetic and compassionate towards everyone I interact with.
EXPERIENCE
Animal Care Center NYC- February 2018-Present
Admissions Counselor. My job was to provide resources to people in need so they could keep their pets during hard time, and intaking new animals into the shelter. I did medical paperwork including, intake paper work, and animal handling.
