PROFILE
I am a 24-year-old Latino student currently attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I am due to graduate in the spring semester with a degree in Political Science. Classes are online due to the pandemic and have a very flexible schedule. I am a member of Theta Chi fraternity and have served under different committees and as treasurer for my chapter. In school, I had been a member of a few clubs and organizations including the Student Government Association of my university. I am a resident of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
EXPERIENCE
Customer Service Associate; Walgreens; Kennett Square, PA – 2014- 2015
Primarily served as a cashier where I had to interact with customers as I checked them out in the front of the store. Frequently was called into the Pharmacy to help customers there and was often used as a translator between Spanish speaking customers and the pharmacist.

Campus Tour Guide; Indiana University of Pennsylvania; Indiana, PA – 2016
Served as tour guide for the fall 2016 semester. Toured around many prospective students and their family around the IUP campus. Used my communication skills to show the school in a positive manner and be as informative as possible especially when asked specific questions.

Summer Camp Counselor; YMCA; Kennett Square, PA – 2018- 2019
Served as a camp counselor for two summers and was the head counselor for the “Bears” group that consisted of children between the ages of 10 to 12 years old. Job not only consisted of keeping the campers entertained during the day camp but was tasked to keep a binder of paper work that had to be kept organized and updated always. My ability to speak Spanish also proved to be beneficial to my supervisors as I was constantly called to talk to Spanish speaking parents or used as a translator between the parents and the camp supervisors.

Server; Thai@ Indiana; Indiana, PA – 2019- 2020
Worked in a small Thai restaurant for two semesters very close to campus. I was charged to keeping all the shelfs of supplies stocked in the kitchen and keeping the eating area clean always. I took take-out orders both in person and through the phone and was a server working for tips when the customers ate in the restaurant. It’s a small but very popular and busy restaurant so many times I had to juggle my duties and multitask since the owners only scheduled one server at a time.
EDUCATION
Kennett High School - Class 2015
Indiana University of Pennsylvania - Political Science, 2021
OTHER
Treasurer; Epsilon Eta Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity; Indiana, PA
As treasurer, I had to keep a detailed log of every expense the chapter had to make. I oversaw collecting dues and keeping up with brothers who faulted on a payment. I was tasked in coming up with a budget for the two semesters I held the office. I kept a binder that was well organized and updated weekly and used Excel to keep up with the amount of money coming in and out from the chapter’s bank account.

Alumni Board; Epsilon Eta Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity; Indiana, PA
In this Committee, I along with 5 others were charged in strengthening and maintaining ties between the active brothers of our chapter and alumni that were and were not a part of the Alumni Association. I actively called alumni and worked to schedule events and reunions that they could take part in.

Senator in Multicultural affairs; Student Government Association; Indiana University of Pennsylvania; Indiana, PA
I was a member of SGA for two semesters and was sworn in as Senator in Multicultural affairs. My job was to actively work on making the University through the student side be more inclusive and open to all people and help students feel more accepted. I attended meetings that administrators of the school would have and I would voice the concerns of students I would speak to, to give them a better understanding of what a POC or other minority might go through while attending the school. The job involved networking between student run organizations, SGA and many school administrators and offices.
