Job description
CALLING ALL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONALS!

We are looking for COOKING, KARATE, STEM Workshop Instructors for the 2022-23 program year. Workshop Instructors will work with middle school students in Bresee’s afterschool program with a vision to positively impact youth in our neighborhood through character development in curriculum-based enrichment workshops.

Mondays - Cooking
Tuesdays - Karate, STEM
Wednesdays - Cooking
Thursdays - Karate, STEM

When: August 2022-June 2023 (3:15pm-6:15pm)
Expectations: Create and implement curriculum; use classroom management techniques; take attendance and submit monthly workshop syllabus; effective communication; use proper safety protocols; patient, energetic, creative, and resourceful; prepare students for winter and spring showcases; participate in quarterly check-ins.

Rate of Pay: $25/hr.

Cooking Workshop Instructor:

When: August 2022-June 2023, Mondays and Wednesdays

Qualifications: must have a background in cooking and baking; at least one year experience teaching youth of all skill levels; ability to manage a classroom of youth aged 11-14; ability to adapt to program requirements and needs

STEM Workshop Instructor:

When: August 2022-June 2023, Tuesdays and Thursdays

Qualifications: must have a background in STEM; at least one year experience teaching STEM activities to youth; ability to manage a classroom of youth aged 11-14; ability to adapt to program requirements and needs

Karate Workshop Instructor

When: August 2022-June 2023, Tuesdays and Thursdays

Qualifications: must have a background in karate, at least one year of experience teaching youth, tailored to the skill level of enrolled students, including new techniques, use of pads or heavy bags, sparring, meditation, stretching, conditioning, and discussing the history philosophy of the art, ability to manage youth aged 11-14, ability to adapt to program requirements and needs

All workshop instructors are considered independent contractors and are required to undergo a criminal background check, in addition to providing proof of a negative TB test within the last six months. Class sessions will not be held during school holidays or dates not included in the LAUSD school calendar.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Contract

Pay: $25.00 per hour
