Required Qualifications

Minimum Age � 18 years old and have graduated high school
Dedicated Christian who is willing to share their faith in Christ with others
Desire and ability to work with children in an outdoor ministry setting
Desired Qualifications

Possess the ability to lead others in group activities, including but not limited to, devotionals, games, cabin activities, music, and skits
Willingness to experience outdoor living and to teach/ learn new skills
Ability to accept supervision and guidance
Possess imagination, a sense of humor, patience, conviction, sincerity, enthusiasm, initiative, self-control, adaptability, willingness to learn, integrity, ingenuity, a sense of spiritual direction, and the presence of God in his/ her life
To Whom Responsible

The Program Director in terms of application and employment, training and work assignments, as well as personnel policies and practices
The Team Leaders in all areas relative to program activities, inter-staff responsibilities, and regular or special work duties
General Responsibilities

Be a positive Christian influence at all times and provide personal guidance when needed
To be with your campers at ALL times unless on break
Be responsible for the stewardship of all camp facilities and equipment
Represent the camp and its purpose in a positive manner when you are in public
Possess an attitude and actions which continually reflect that Christ lives within you and that you view your position as an opportunity to be in His service
Specific Responsibilities

Directly responsible for the needs and actions of the 8-10 campers placed in your care each week.
Spiritual Needs: To identify and meet the spiritual needs of ALL campers
Daily leadership of Bible Study for the cabin group
Plan and lead a daily bedtime devotional for the cabin group
Assist with the planning and leading of worship and campfire including skits and music
Promote an atmosphere of Christian cooperation among the campers and among fellow staff members
Be a positive Christian influence at all times and be Christ�s witness in all your ways and works
Physical Needs: To identify and meet the physical needs of ALL campers by being responsible for his/her health, cleanliness, and safety
Guard campers from dangerous activities or circumstances
Make sure YOU and your campers are practicing good hygiene, sleeping habits, and eating habits while at camp
Emotional Needs: identify and meet the emotional needs of ALL campers
Get to know and understand each camper as quickly and as well as possible
Treat ALL campers fairly and show loving concern for all aspects of their welfare
Strive to build self-esteem and self-value in each camper
Provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems/concerns
Teach your cabin group to live as a group and be aware of each other�s needs
Program/ Activities
Be involved/participate in all camp activities, whether leading it or not
Lead activities such as games, mealtime, singing, and worship or campfire aspects as assigned by the Team Leaders
Supervise all aspects of the campers� day, including cabin clean-up, quiet time, evening activities, meal times, cabin activities and getting ready for bed
Camper Discipline
Understand, follow, and enforce all camp policies and standards
Make sure that your campers are behaving in an appropriate manner during all activities, including large group activities
Encourage respect for the property of others and for the camp�s facilities and equipment
When necessary refer discipline problems to the Team Leaders
Other Specific Responsibilities
Assist in registration of the campers and weekly clean-up assignments
Maintain good public relations with the parents and campers
As a team member, assist other staff in any task that will enhance the outdoor ministry of Lutherwood Camp and Retreat Center
While most of the time you will be in direct supervision of campers, some weeks you may be asked to assist with support staff duties which may include: kitchen assistant, maintenance, or day camp
