CULTURE IS EVERYTHING

Tenacre Day Camp is a place where you can look forward to coming to work every day because it is a comfortable community where you know you are supported and valued. We believe organization and structure provide a strong foundation where friendships and memories can be built. We believe the best friendships and memories are made when campers and staff know what is expected of them and open and honest communication is the standard.

The mission of Tenacre Day Camp is to nurture and challenge each child every day. We expect all staff to model the characteristics children need in order to be nurtured and challenged every day: kindness, empathy, and willingness to accept feedback. We also put an emphasis on what we call the Tenacre TIGER values: Teamwork, Integrity, Generosity, Enthusiasm, Responsibility. These values are often the focus of conversations at camp.

We also expect our staff to be able to teach children right from wrong and challenge them to be better, kinder people. This often requires our staff to say no to certain behaviors so we can say yes to a better camp culture.

Tenacre is a camp for self-identified introverts, extroverts, LGBTQ, and BIPOC. We believe camp should be the best version of the world, and the world should be a gathering place for all to celebrate differences and appreciate people being their genuine selves. You belong here.

YOUR TEAM

At Tenacre, we hire friendly, nice people with good work ethic.

Your team of lifeguards/swim instructors will experience staff training together, enabling you to establish positive working relationships before the campers come.

As part of staff training, our pool director will teach general guidelines and best practices for teaching lessons and ensuring all campers have fun in a safe environment. You'll also learn some Tenacre-specific details about things like making swim reports what happens on our themed Fun Fridays!
