Employee Name: Position: Camp Counselor

Employment Dates: 5/30/2023 – 8/20/2023, unless stated Reports To: Lead Counselor

Hourly Rate: $16.04 per hour

Basic Assignment: The Camp Counselor will be providing leadership and supervision with daily activities, playing with campers, and teach sports and swim lessons. Under the supervision of the lead counselor they will provide a fun and safe environment for campers to participate in sports and activities.

Qualifications:

Experience working with children of all ages in a recreation, education, and/or community setting.
Graduated high school or equivalent. Prefer college student or graduated college.
Ability to work with staff and parents.
Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others as well as respond to critical incidents and act quickly in an emergency situation.
Must be 18 years or older, or 17 if graduated high school.
Criminal record clearance.
Clearance of TB test.
Ability to lead and participate in physical activities.
Major Functions:

Lead and assist in planning and implementation of the daily program under the Lead
Counselor, including off site activities.

Lead and assist in preparing a creative environment using recreational enrichment, including the presentation of needed supplies and materials.
Supervise participants in the activity areas.
Teach swim lessons and supervise during free swim. (Must be in water twice a day)
Advise and communicate with participants families in regard to any questions or concerns in regards to their child’s well being.
Maintain professional attitude and loyalty.
To communicate with camp staff regarding program activities and events.
To communicate with parents and families regarding program activities.
Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
Adhere to camp policies, procedures and expectations.
Insure high quality program by maintaining high level of job performance indicated by employee evaluations.
To perform other duties as assigned.
