Full Job Description
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress is looking to hire dynamic Youth Leaders and Instructors!

Position locations in Anaheim and Cypress at traditional Clubhouse and school settings, working with children from 1st through 12th grade.

Schedule:

Part-time, 10-25 hours per week

Monday-Friday, 2:00pm-6:00pm

Rate:

$16.00-$17.00/hr

Key Roles:

1. Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate activities provided within a specific program area such as Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, STEM, and Physical Education.

2. Prepare youth for success by providing guidance and role modeling to members, promoting and stimulating program participation.

3. Facilitate the Five Key Elements for Positive Youth Development: Fun, Safe & Positive Environment, Recognition, Opportunities & Expectations, and Supportive Relationships.

4. Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs, and appearance of the Clubhouse at all times.

5. Support members in making positive behavior choices and take appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.

6. Establish authority through leadership, communication, and patience in order to give members the stability and nurturing atmosphere necessary for their success.

7. Maintain close contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and Supervisors to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instruction, instruct, and advise/counsel.

8. Assist with fundraising activities as needed.

9. Participate in cleaning and maintaining the facility and equipment.

10. Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in the Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy, and elsewhere

Skills/Knowledge Required:

· High school diploma required, 48+ college units preferred

· Experience in working with youth

· Knowledge of youth development

· Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior issues

· Ability to communicate and deal with the general public

· Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth

· Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment

· Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications

· Ability to pass a background and drug screening in accordance with Club policies

· Ability to transport oneself between Clubhouses

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

This position is in a loud, fast-paced Club environment, both indoors and outdoors. The model Youth Leader will thrive in an extraordinarily fast-paced environment that features constant change. This position requires employee flexibility, patience, and the ability to problem-solve and innovate. The employee must be able to work club hours of operation

This position is very active and requires sight, hearing, bending, kneeling, crouching, standing for more than four hours each day, ability to move quickly throughout Club facilities, and other physical requirements needed to complete essential functions of the position and other duties as assigned. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 35 pounds.

COVID-19 considerations:
The Club follows all CDC and CDE guidelines related to serving groups of children and will provide training to all new staff regarding health and safety protocols.
