Swim Instructor / Counselor

Must be at least 16 years of age. Swim Instructors must possess a current Water Safety Instructor certification by the American Red Cross. Swim Instructor / Counselors work under the direction of the Camp Aquatics Director and the Assistant Camp Aquatics Director to oversee swim areas during swim hours. They work under the direction of the Camp Director during non-swim activities. In addition to swim instruction, Swim Instructor / Counselors can be assigned to assist in the other recreation program areas such as visual and performing arts, field sports, and more. There are opportunities to teach additional aquatic and non-aquatic class/es for campers during or after camp. Swim Instructor / Counselors also serve as additional staff supervision for camp trips. Current lifeguard certification is not required-but special consideration will be given to applicants who hold a current lifeguard certification.

Responsibilities:
Teach lessons in water safety and swim skills following the American Red Cross Learn to Swim guidelines under the supervision of the Camp Aquatics Director and Assistant Camp Aquatics director
Be prepared to assist with after camp classes and/or lead teach after camp class/es based on your interests (examples: SUP, water games, water polo, specialized swim skills, bracelet making, music, volleyball, and more!) under the supervision of Camp Aquatics Director and/or Camp/Recreation Director
Be prepared to assist Ocean Specialist with supervision/instruction/general program support
Supervise campers during after camp trips under the supervision of the Camp/Recreation Director
Other duties as assigned by the Camp Aquatics Director and/or Camp/Recreation Director

NOTE: The ideal candidate is qualified (or committed to certification process), enthusiastic, values teamwork, good communicator, friendly, flexible problem solver, has camp friendly skills and interests, available for the entire recreation season (July 5-August 26)


REPORTS TO: Camp Aquatic Director/Camp Director
HOURS: Monday to Thursday 8am-3pm (lunch break TBD), Friday 8am-1:30pm
SALARY:
WSI only �expected $3000+ for entire 8 week season (starting at $12 an hour�29.5 hours a week)
WSI and lifeguarding�expected $4200+ for entire 8 week season (starting at $18 an hour�29.5 hours a week)
NOTE: Village of Saltaire will reimburse WSI training, not lifeguarding certification
