Job Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting camp staff with tending to needs as they arise in order to ensure the smooth flow of the camp day in a fun & loving manner in line with the values of Forest Hill Church.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This role will be responsible for assisting camp staff as needs arise in order to facilitate the smooth running of the daily operations of the Camp. This role may provide administrative support, group supervision, large group programming assistance, and other duties as they become necessary. Responsibilities are (including but not limited to) as follows:
• Assist with the organization, disbursement, and collection of camp supplies
• Relieve other camp staff during breaks
• Assist staff during check in and check out times
• Assist with the Camp Store
• Assist with the disbursement of meals and snacks
• Assist with technology as needed (e.g. iPads, laptops, A/V equipment)
• Actively participate in all field trips
• Engage with campers during activities if group coverage is needed
• Actively participate and assist with providing supervision to campers during all field trips; this includes being present in the water
• Provide leadership and/or support during large group experiences. This might include leading worship, storytelling, or working the audio/visual equipment
• Support a fun, loving, and safe environment for your group
• Ensure snacks are ordered and prepared for dissemination each day
• Assist with meal planning and preparation during the last week of camp
• Report problems that may arise to the Camp Director or Assistant Camp Director
• Lead and guide student volunteers to assist with activities
• Ensure the upkeep of the facility and adhere to the facility usage guidelines
• Work with camp directors to promote a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others.
• Promote a learning environment that reflects FHC mission, purpose and goals, childcare policies and FHC standards to ensure the program meets the highest standards of excellence.
• Ensure protocols are followed for building safety
• Submit all request for time off to ------------ no later than June 1, 2021.
• Be in swim attire and be in the pool for all swimming field trips
• Be present for the entire final week of camp, August 9th – 12th
• Attend all staff orientation dates from June 7th – 11th


Education/Skills / Qualities / Knowledge Requirements:
• Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Minimum of two years of experience working with children, students, and adults
• Experience interacting with children for extended periods of time (at least 5 hours per day)
• Understands the developmental levels of children and teens
• Able to provide direction to middle and high school students
• Ability to interact comfortably with children, students, and adults
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to follow oral or written instructions with little follow-up and ask for clarification when needed
• Able participate in sports and outdoor activities during summer months
• Maintain a high-degree of flexibility regarding role expectation and task completion

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, balance and lift up to 50 pounds
• Observe, see, hear and respond to children’s needs, emergencies and conflicts that may occur
• Reach a child 20 to 30 feet away within 30 seconds without endangering the staff person’s health
• Crouch to a child’s height, maintain eye contact at the child’s level, sit on the floor and stand tall enough to reach children on the highest piece of equipment.
• Able to run, jump, and physically interact with children for up to 30 minutes at a time
• Able to use fine motor skills to cut, glue, sort, and organize items
