Nursery Attendant Job Description

The purpose is to provide physical care, Spiritual development and emotional nurture for children during Church Services. It is the church’s primary ministry for infants and toddlers from birth to age five. It is for approximately four hours every Sunday Morning and other Church Services (Christmas Eve and Holy Week).

Required Skills
Previous experience in child care or infant/toddler education
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong interpersonal/relationship-building ability
CPR and First Aid certification helpful

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 10-50 lbs
Ability to perform manual work that includes standing, sitting, walking and bending. To use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

Job Description
Arrive ½ hour before the first service starts and stay until the last last service’s children are gone and the room is clean. (8:30 am to 12:30 pm)
Setup nursery each time which may include vacuuming the floor, moving tables/chairs, cleaning changing tables, other equipment and toys.
Greet families as they arrive and ensure that all children are properly checked in by a parent or caregiver, and are subsequently checked out properly.
Follow the curriculum provided and facilitate age-appropriate Christian Spiritual development.
Provide a loving and accepting environment for all children and their families.
Provide age-appropriate care, including: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the restroom, maintaining a safe environment, holding, and sitting with a child.
Cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play, prayer, and other activities as may be directed and as required for children’s varied learning styles.
Direct children’s play activities and foster proper sharing behavior.
Provide courteous and effective communications with parents regarding nursery operational policies and activities, as well as any specific information regarding their children.
Worker has to pass a background check.
pass the Protect my minister Child Abuse Prevention Training course and exam.
Agree to the Child Protection Policy of Trinity Church.
Must follow Personnel Handbook requirements and policies of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Hourly, Part-time (generally 16 - 20 hours per month)
