We are seeking a Lead Teacher to join our 'learn through play' based Preschool! This individual will plan and present age appropriate activities for children.
Responsibilities:
• Instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents
• Communicate with parents on students' growth and progress
• Maintain the health and safety of all students
• Develop and implement a curriculum plan that is developmentally appropriate, child initiated, and reflects the core values of Wesley Preschool; submit daily lesson plans for each month on the first day of the month. Incorporate ways to encourage children to think, reason, question, and experiment.
• Continually plan, evaluate and improve the physical environment of the classroom to meet the needs of the group and to ensure a well-organized, clean, and safe space
• Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-confidence. Encourage and model pro-social behaviors among children, such as cooperating with friends, sharing, and using words to identify and solve problems. Create a classroom environment where children are happily engaged in activities and enjoying their friends and teachers. Adjust plans and environment when a child is over stimulated, frustrated or stressed.
• Serve as the primary contact to parents/guardians to communicate child’s developmental progress. Conduct annual parent/teacher conferences
• Demonstrate caring, sensitivity, and responsiveness to the children, parents and guardians. Maintain confidentiality of information about children and families
• Work in collegial collaboration with Wesley staff members, maintaining a positive attitude at all times
• Qualifications:
• Passionate about working with preschool-aged children
• Ability to build rapport with children
• Positive and patient demeanor
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor’s degree in another field. Experience may be substituted for education at the Director’s discretion
• Current certification in CPR and First Aid (will be provided upon hire)
• TB screening and physician statement of health
