Program, Marketing, and Outreach Intern position
Little Water Prep is a kindergarten through 5th grade tuition-free public charter school for Dutchess County, New York, with a focus on serving Poughkeepsie and neighboring communities. We are working to open in August 2022 with 90 kindergarteners, and 30 first-graders, adding one grade per year until fifth grade. Our mission is: To work in partnership with the community to provide a rigorous and affirming environment for all K-5 scholars through reflective, data-driven teaching and a responsive curriculum that allows our students to recognize their power and have agency over their futures.

This is where you come in. Little Water Prep is looking for a Program, Marketing, and Outreach Intern who, alongside our Executive Director, will support the startup efforts that will change the game for students in Poughkeepsie. Founding a school is hard work, and we are seeking a collaborative, creative, and resilient team member to help bring Little Water Prep's vision into reality. You will know you have been successful in your role based on the following outcomes and activities:
Programs
? Managing communication with and coordination of full-time staff candidates during the recruitment process
? Attend local events with Executive Director
Marketing
? Develop visually engaging posts on Instagram, and Facebook
? Generate ideas for blogs and additional content
? Develop three high-resolution flyers for distribution
? Coordinate translation process into Spanish (language proficiency not required)
? Dramatically grow our followers on social media, with a focus on local families and teacher candidates
Outreach
? Execute a recruitment strategy to talk to families and collect applications for our founding kindergarten and first grade class
? Coordinate the logistics of multiple recruitment information sessions and outreach days
? Maintain a database of prospective families
To be excellent in this role, you will have to have the following values, characteristics and qualifications:
? An interest in learning what it takes to start a new public charter school in Poughkeepsie. A willingness to support the unglamorous work of starting a school from the ground-up (handing out flyers, making copies, talking to anyone and everyone who will listen)
? Expertise in Excel (all roles), Powerpoint (all roles), Social Media platforms (marketing intern), image editing software (marketing intern)
? Flexibility to travel to and from Poughkeepsie City
? A growth mindset
? A keen attention to detail
? An ability to respond to requests quickly via phone, text, or email
? A cheerful demeanor
? At least a high school degree; some college or college degree preferred
? Multiple languages spoken is preferred (e.g. Spanish, Bengali, Hindi)

Stipend: $17/hr for 20 hours per week = $340/wk, paid biweekly as a 1099 consultant to the school (taxes not withheld)
Starting date: immediately
Duration: Initial, paid 1-week trial period, followed by 3-6 months of work, pending need. Potential for full time roles available.
