Rendered Stone is a Landscape Design and Install company situated in the East Bay specializing in hardscaping, irrigation, native and non native plantings, and regularly scheduled eco-conscious gardening maintenance. We have some immediate openings for people who want to grow with our company.
LEAD Gardener for Maintenance Team:
We are seeking a reliable, knowledgeable, and meticulous Lead Gardener for the landscape maintenance route. This is one part fine gardening, so we need someone who has good horticultural knowledge, and a good understanding of plant care/diseases. It�s also one part cleanup/maintenance so we need someone thorough and specific who can use a weed wacker/blower/mower (all electrical), or pick up piles of brush as needed.
It's also one part managerial as the Lead Garden Manager works with another assistant gardener and will be the person who calls the shots on the job when not working with the owner.
Looking for someone to be the eyes and ears for these beautiful gardens, so if you are good at seeing the bigger picture and then focusing on the details, you will excel at this position. It�s relatively fast paced where you visit multiple clients per day, so you will have to keep track of timing and be punctual.
Needed Skills:
Knowledge of plants and a passion to always continue learning
Experience in proper planting and care for a variety of plants
Irrigation Knowledge/troubleshooting and basic repair skills
Plant Disease diagnostic experience
Familiarity with (all natural) fertilizing/insecticide sprays
Committed to Eco-friendly practices and using organic materials/supplies
Management (and time management) skills
Ability to work efficiently with attention to detail
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Excellent communication skills & note-taking abilities
Reliable transportation that can transport a set of tools (all jobs are within 10-15 mins from each other by car in the general Oakland/Berkeley area and you will need to travel there on your own for now)
We are NOT a mow and blow operation, use ONLY all electric equipment, all organic fertilizers, and no chemical pesticides. No tools necessary on your part except for your own pruners and PPE. However if you have some of your own tools, we can talk about how that would work.
All of our work environments are covid safe, and we require all employees to be fully vaccinated, and wear masks on site when distancing isn't possible.
This is currently 1 day to start, with the ability for 2 days in the near future, as well as the potential to pick up more work on our install team, and/or more gardening as we are expanding rapidly!
$22-$26/hr to start depending on experience and skill. We have a training rate to start and are happy to increase expediently as per experience level. We also believe in paying people well for hard work! You scratch our back, we'll scratch yours :)
Payment is W2 paid bi weekly
Paid lunch break/travel between jobs
