ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

PACT, Inc., (------------) a non-profit organization, operates educational programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Its mission is to promote community empowerment by increasing access to higher education. Since 1965, PACT, Inc. has provided college advising and tutoring to low-income, first-generation-to-college students throughout San Francisco, Richmond, and Vallejo; placing nearly 40,000 students in college throughout the nation. PACT, Inc. has expanded its services to Vacaville, California providing tutoring, coaching, mentoring, and advising services under the U.S. Department of Education�s Upward Bound Program (http://www2.ed.gov/programs/trioupbound/index.html).

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

- Recruit & manage caseload of approximately 250 project participants

- Recruit, screen, select and assess the needs of project participants (High School students grades 9-12)

- Maintain detailed student files with proper documentation of student eligibility for each student

-Conduct individual and group counseling activities related to college admissions and financial aid (federal aid, scholarships, etc)

-Conduct workshops at high schools and community agencies on college admissions and financial aid

- Coordinate and conduct visits to college campuses.

-Make presentations on PACT services to community programs

-Collaborate with school staff (e.g., Counselors, Principal, Teachers, Assistant Principals, etc.) to meet specific school needs

-Coordinate College & Career Fairs, arranging for guest speakers, organizing senior assemblies, etc.)

-Assist students with college exam registration and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree.

The ideal candidate will have:

1. A minimum 2 years experience working with youth or young adults.
3. A minimum 2 years experience working as a teacher, advisor, or counselor in a high school setting.
4. Familiarity with Federal TRiO program.
5. Familiarity with college admissions practices.
6. Familiarity with agencies and institutions serving young adults in the Bay Area.
7. Be available to work during and after school-hours.
8. Must be able to commute to and from multiple school sites (note this position is currently for 1 school site, however, additional sites may be added).

SALARY: $22.00/hr (depending on degree/experience)
