POSITION DETAILS

STAR Education's Music program is one of the biggest after-school music programs in Southern California. Our goal is to bring music back into the schools through a fun hands-on experience for the kids.

We are looking for a high-energy, professional, punctual, charismatic drummer/ percussionist who has some formal training in fundamentals�proper stick technique, note values, and rhythms. We are looking for teachers based in Los Angeles, South Bay, Glendale, and the Palisades areas for the 2022-2023 school year, who want to share their enthusiasm for music with elementary school kids�musicians who are ready to inspire the next generation. Familiarity with other instruments, guitar, bass, keyboard, and vocals is a big plus, but not mandatory.

We work with children in K-6th grade, of all skill levels and teach them the basics of music. Teachers should have some previous experience working with children in that age group. We currently offer bucket drumming, group piano, ukulele, and RockStar band performance classes. We are currently developing new percussion and songwriting/ music production classes to add to our curriculum.

Our perfect candidates should be available to teach PART-TIME for our upcoming band rehearsal classes with hours ranging from 1.5-2.5 hours per day between 1:30pm-5:00 pm; M-F; $35/hr. Teacher assignments depend on availability and student enrollment.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Experience teaching K-6th grade students
Must commit to the 2021-2022 School Year
Must have Reliable Transportation and be comfortable with and responsible for possibly transporting materials to schools. (Paid training and materials provided.)
Must be punctual, reliable, enthusiastic, responsible, and flexible
Dedicated to children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Independently Lead groups of 7-14 students from K-6th grade
Attend Teacher Training where you will be trained in Classroom Management
Instructors are expected to arrive on time and provide an educational, safe, and enjoyable class experience for students
Creative, artistic thinking with the ability to do so under time constraints
Create curriculums and execute them effectively
