THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY (TNC) is a Pulitzer Prize¬–winning center for the creation and performance of new American theater, now in its 52nd season of operation. TNC believes that "theater is a civic necessity, not a luxury." In detail, TNC’s mission is to: to discover relevant new writing and to nurture new playwrights; to be a bridge between playwright, experimental theater artist, and the ever growing audiences in the community; to create spaces where a new vision can breathe and be nourished by a working process not subject to commercial constraints and pressures; to create events and ways in which to bring theater into the community and bring the community into the theater.

THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY seeks a part-time Development Manager to oversee both its institutional and individual fundraising efforts. The Development Manager will be responsible for coordinating and implementing development strategies in support of TNC’s programming areas.

This position is for three (3) days per week (flexible) with salary in the $15,000 - $16,000 range, plus health insurance. The position is available immediately.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain institutional grant calendar (application, LOI, and reporting deadlines)
• Compose grant proposals and reports for private foundations and government institutions
• Maintain development database and files
• Research and identify new funding prospects
• Develop donor cultivationretention events and correspondence
• Record, file, and distribute board and committee meeting minutes
• Correspond with donors including timely gift acknowledgements
• Manage Interns and Volunteer staff
Requirements:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; detail-oriented
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel in a Mac environment.
• Advanced degree a plus
• Ability to navigate online forms, surveys, and pdfs
• One (1) to Three (3) years’ experience preferred
• Experience working with performing-arts institutions is desirable
