Ele’s Place Flint is seeking someone with the passion to ensure that no child grieves alone to provide bereavement services to children and families. This position oversees assigned support group program sessions and related programming responsibilities, providing guidance, information, and referrals to families and others regarding issues of death, grief, and loss ensuring exceptional support throughout their grief journey.
Essential Job Functions:
• Provides guidance for Ele’s Place families about programming questions and concerns. Identifies and coordinates Ele’s Place families in need of referrals to mental health therapists, protective services, or other outside resources.
• Provides guidance/support/feedback to facilitators and volunteers. Briefs them about new family updates, procedures, and other announcements. Ensures all program set-up/clean-up work is completed.
• Coordinates and conducts family intakes and orientations; provides follow-up and referral as needed.
• Maintains family records, including records of applications sent and received, and ensures that family information on the database system is correct and up-to-date.
• Coordinates group assignments for family members, with assistance from Program Director.
• Assists callers and visitors with inquiries seeking information, guidance, and/or referrals.
• Maintains the inventory of program supplies and ensures procurement of supplies.
• Helps to ensure that all program staff and volunteers follow child safety policies, emergency procedures, and building safety policies.
• Fulfills one or more of the following specific responsibilities, as assigned:
o Produces quarterly family bulletin
o Compiles satisfaction survey results
o Assists with facilitator training program by presenting one or more topics
o Plans for and coordinates activity room projects
o Makes presentations to community groups, teachers, physicians, etc. about Ele’s Place and children’s grief issues
o Keeps therapist referral list and/or community resources literature up-to-date
o Coordinates other projects, as assigned
• Adopts staff team philosophy and work habits. Participates in Program Team meetings and works with the staff to ensure the achievement of applicable strategic plan goals.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements: A minimum of LLMSW, LLP, LLMFC, or LLPC state licensure (or equivalent state licensure with a master’s degree in a mental health-related field) is required. Experience working with grief and loss is strongly preferred. Supervision is available to LLMSWs working towards full licensure.
Position Requirements (Skills & Abilities):
• Knowledge of grief issues and community resources; experience working in bereavement.
• Ability to organize and facilitate grief support groups; experience working with volunteers.
• Ability to use technology (hardware and software) required.
• Must be dedicated to the philosophy and purpose of grief services.
• Must possess sound judgment; prioritization and follow-through skills; attention to detail; flexibility and dependability; tact; and ability to maintain confidential information.
• Maintenance of expertise in knowledge of licensure standards.
Expectations: The typical workweek requires working a minimum of one (1) evening per week and varying days/hours with some scheduling flexibility.
Pay: $24.00 - $31.00 per hour
