Social Justice Intern

Uterish is an intersectional feminist nonprofit that focuses on education, activism, and fundraising for reproductive justice causes. Founders Alex, Greta, and Taya started Uterish in 2016 as seniors in high school; today, we offer an internship program for self-directed current sophomores and juniors who are passionate about social justice and want to develop professional skills while learning about reproductive justice. (Learn more about Uterish at ------------)

This is a remote, part-time, unpaid* internship that will take place June through August. Hours and start dates are flexible according to the schedule of the intern, and we anticipate about five hours of work a week.

Job Description:
We are looking for current high school students who are eager to develop editorial and communications skills in an intersectional feminist setting. Interns can take on a variety of projects depending on their interests — past interns have written for our blog and newsletter, assisted in publicity projects, and developed social media campaigns, among other opportunities. All interns will leave the internship with writing and editing skills, and knowing more about reproductive justice. This is a learning opportunity to cultivate personal and professional skills in a collaborative, feminist, nonprofit environment.

Desired Skills:
Strong writing skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Organized, detail-oriented
Passionate about intersectional feminism and/or social justice
A creative mindset

*Because Uterish is a completely volunteer-run operation, this internship is a volunteer position and therefore unpaid. We offer experience, skill development, mentorship, and a letter of reference to prepare our interns for future career opportunities.
