New York Journal of Books is the leading online U.S. book review publication. Its reviews are also syndicated, appearing in an array of new media and traditional print media venues.

INTERNSHIPS BEGIN AND END ON A ROLLING BASIS WITH FLEXIBLE START AND END DATES.

INTERNSHIPS ARE UNPAID

Specific responsibilities:

• NYJB website back end features unique technology through which reviewers can peruse curated forthcoming and recently released books for review. Basic intern responsibilities include inputting book data into the internal catalog and assigning genres. Interns who are most successful approach this not as simply data input, but are able to both assign the obviously relevant genres to a book and also at times with some creative thought assign others less obvious. Because our reviewers must be qualified to review specific genres, pushing the boundaries some on genre assignment often places a book in the hands of a reviewer who is not the obvious choice, but brings experience and a special perspective to the resulting review.

• NYJB regularly adds to its diverse reviewer panel. Interns assist in identifying potential new reviewers. Again, though, interns who are most successful are also creative in sourcing potential new reviewers.

Requirements:
• Completed at least first semester of college
• Remote internship open to applicants globally.
• 8 hours per week in at least two sessions at times of intern's choosing
