Education Trainee
Unique Minds Learning Company has an opening for an education assistant to train on the job and through self-study. If accepted, you will be working with experienced educators to assist with tutoring and mentoring students with learning differences. You will learn Orton Gillingham and executive functioning techniques and apply those to young people needing help with language, organization and general studies. Consideration will be given qualified to Orton-Gillingham trained English language tutors OR a recent college graduate who is willing to self study and be trained as an O-G tutor. You should be available for the entire school year and bring enthusiasm to the learning experience. A background in tutoring, teaching, or working with young people is desirable but not essential and you should be looking for a long term career opportunity. Your first language should be English but fluency in French, Spanish, Mandarin or Cantonese will be considered as an additional asset. Your place of work will be our West Vancouver learning centre.
This is a permanent, part time, hourly paid position which could lead to full time work once trained. Your work will be varied as our tutors work with students of all levels from kindergarten to university. Compensation for trainees is $18 per hour. Upon completion of training, compensation you rate of pay will range from $26 -$40 per hour plus an allowance for vacation pay and statutory holidays. Permanent staff are eligible for extended health and dental benefits and a performance bonus.
