Job Summary
The primary role of the Accounting Intern position is to work with the Finance Manager and other UCSRB staff, on financial reports, data gathering, and information needed by the UCSRB, its funding agencies, and oversight groups. This position reports to the Finance Manager of the UCSRB. The Accounting Intern will gain practical hands-on experience that will provide an opportunity for growth, learning and development within their educational field of study.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist with assigned portions of the annual financial statements, accountability and single audit reports.
• Assist with preparation of worksheets, statements, schedules and supporting documentation required by the auditors.
• Assist with preparation of the indirect cost rate proposal for the UCSRB. Assist the Finance Manager, as necessary, in responding to information and documentation required by the cognizant federal agency as part of the indirect rate negotiation process.
• Participate in a review of finance related policies and procedures. Review current practices for compliance with existing policies and procedures, as well as research and make recommendations on improvements and best practices.
• Assist the Finance Manager in preparing invoice vouchers for grant reimbursements.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicant must be currently working toward Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related discipline at an accredited college or university. Applicants must provide a copy of most recent transcript (unofficial copy is acceptable).

The ideal candidate should be detailed-oriented, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have at least a basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software. An ability to effectively meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and willingness to learn is also important.

This hybrid position is based Wenatchee, Washington and requires frequent in-office presence. Partial remote work is available.

Compensation
This is a temporary position with a pay scale of $15.00-$18.00 per hour depending on qualifications. This position will be approximately 20 hours per week and not to exceed a three-month duration. This position is not eligible for UCSRB benefits.

Background
The Upper Columbia Salmon Recovery Board (UCSRB) is a nonprofit corporation formed to serve as a regional salmon recovery organization and to coordinate and implement the Upper Columbia Spring Chinook Salmon and Steelhead Recovery Plan. The UCSRB board of directors consists of commissioners from Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan Counties; and representatives from the Colville Confederated Tribes, and the Yakama Nation. The Mission of the UCSRB is to restore viable and sustainable populations of salmon, steelhead and other at-risk species through collaborative, economically sensitive efforts, combined resources, and wise resource management of the Upper Columbia River region. The UCSRB approaches salmon recovery efforts in a transparent and evolving process to restore fish populations for ecosystems and people while enhancing the economic viability of the region.

One of the primary goals of the UCSRB is to promote integration of recovery efforts for salmonids through all sectors and life stages. The UCSRB currently works with various local, state, tribal, federal, and private entities in an ongoing effort to coordinate recovery. The UCSRB is seeking to hire a part-time, temporary Accounting Intern who will assist with day-to-day finance and accounting functions, as well as assist with portions of UCSRB finance related projects.
