GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Special Event Manager’s primary responsibilities are to build strategic relationships, conduct a variety of outreach activities, and coordinate day-to-day activities involving all special events.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Performs duties under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Director, Park Services.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Supervises part-time employees of the High Blue associated with special events, as assigned. May also supervise temporary employees, community service workers, or volunteers, as required.

PRINCIPLE AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. Manage and direct fundraising and sponsorship efforts for the park department, targeting individual, private, corporate, school and other organizations.
2. Create marketing materials to assist in promoting sponsorship opportunities and special events.
3. Organize and manage special events from conception to completion, including funding, promotion, budgeting, volunteer and staff, set up, clean up and follow up.
4. Assist in managing the budget for each special event.
5. Serve as an ambassador of the mission of the Belton Park Department with current and potential partners.
6. Self-starter with the ability to manage time effectively.
7. The ability to work through stringent deadlines with acute attention to detail and a focus on priorities.
8. Exercise professional judgement and responsibility in the management of special events and fundraising efforts.
9. Lend administrative assistance and guidance in order to obtain and nurture partnerships.
10. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Park Director.

PERIPHERAL DUTIES:

Attend training sessions and meetings as needed.
1. Maintain a professional image in the Belton Parks and in the community.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Subject to working some evenings and weekend.
2. Must maintain a physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include working closely with others, high levels of public contact, and irregular working hours.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Events Management, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
2. Marketing/fundraising experience highly desirable.
3. At least 1-3 years in special events planning and implementation preferred
4. Proven experience in meeting and exceeding performance goals.
5. Must have documented successful partnership cultivation experience and a keen understanding of fundraising/income development.
