Seasonal Garden Center Sales Associate
Job Description: Cashier, Delivery, and Inventory Processing

Great opportunity for students. Family-owned retail and wholesale garden center and greenhouse business seeking Sales, Delivery, and Inventory Control Associates for the spring season. Position handles sales of plants, nursery products, and related products and miscellaneous tasks in the greenhouse and garden center areas, including maintaining clean and well-organized sales areas, addressing customer concerns, assisting with pricing and inventory control matters, and handling phone orders, along with operating company vehicles to deliver and transport products. Retail hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., full-time, part-time, and flexible schedules will be considered. Knowledge of plants is a plus, but not required. Some weekend hours are required. Competitive pay starting at $13 or higher if you have significant plant knowledge, greenhouse/garden center experience or other valuable skills and experience. A fun work environment with gorgeous, cheerful surroundings. Position reports to Retail and Wholesale Greenhouse Manager.

Education/Experience/Requirements

Prior experience working in retail and/or wholesale sales, including using a Point of Sale (POS) system
Prior experience working in horticulture or garden center a plus
Able to work in all-weather types
Able to work weekends and some holidays
Must be able to stand and walk on feet for multiple hours at a time with minimal breaks
Must be able to comfortably lift 30 pounds repeatedly throughout the day
Must complete an application and be subject to a background check
Must have a valid driver’s license

Position Responsibilities

Operate cash register/POS check out of retail and wholesale customers
Assist customers with questions and concerns
Price products and assist with inventory management matters
Maintain clean and well-organized sales areas
Work with other sales associates to deliver optimal customer service in an efficient manner and in line with company policies and best practices
Handle customer telephone calls, including order intake and coordination of product deliveries based on guidelines set by the Manager
Maintain a positive attitude with a friendly demeanor towards customers
