Warehouse/Delivery Driver
Job description:?The Warehouse/Delivery Driver contributes to E&H Hardware Group's mission?by?creating a friendly and courteous shopping experience. The Warehouse/Delivery Driver is responsible for checking incoming merchandise against invoices to identify shortages, damaged goods, and backorders and processing special orders. He/she must make sure the warehouses, as well as storage and check-in areas are neat, clean, and orderly. The Warehouse/Delivery Driver is also responsible for loading merchandise into customers’ vehicles, cleaning the restrooms, offices and areas on the sales floor and the use and maintenance of floor cleaning equipment, building grills, assembling furniture, as well as delivering merchandise to customer’s homes.
Responsibilities:
Warehouse/Delivery Driver has the following responsibilities and duties:
Full assembly of grills and furniture that is for delivery to our customers.
Wrapping and covering of grills & furniture for safe storage after assembly.
Pickup and delivery between stores (transfers) and maintain appropriate documentation for this safety sensitive position.
Pick-up and delivery to customers; must always maintain company standards of customer service.
Always represent the company in a positive manner.
Must immediately inform supervisor of any issues with stores, company vehicles or equipment when they arise.
Participate in all company safety training.
Load and Unload freight, containers, and trailers; including carrying out to sales floor.
Visually verify contents of shipments. Must use basic arithmetic skills to verify incoming merchandise against orders, invoices, shipping and packing documents to spot shortages, damaged goods, backorders, etc.
Communicate with management, employees, and delivery personnel. Advise your supervisor of shortages, damages, backorders, etc. Be alert for sales opportunities by paging a sales associate to assist customers. Report any complaints from customers to management. Make suggestions for procedure changes when you believe such changes will improve sales, profits, efficiency, and/or morale, etc.
Be “customer ready” whenever you are on the stage/sales floor
Uphold cleanliness standards (including, but not limited to, refraining from smoking in any Company-provided vehicle) in vehicles and work areas.
Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and warehousing area clean and organized.
Be alert for possible merchandise losses. Protect all company assets and report any missing or damaged merchandise to your supervisor.
Perform other tasks as asked by warehouse members, store management, or support staff.
Check condition of box(es) to ensure that there is no damage
Load and unload cargo or help others with loading and unloading.
Load and unload containers.
Help other co-workers with unloading and loading.
Read transport documents to determine assignment details.
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to vehicles.
Perform any other duty as assigned.
Requirements:
Warehouse/Delivery Driver should have the following skills, education, and experience:
High School Diploma, preferred
21 years of age or older
One year of delivery driver experience, preferred
Current Driver’s License and clean driving record
Basic knowledge of hand tools
Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with high attention to detail
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for an extended period
Ability to lift 100 pounds frequently to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store
