Prevention Specialist/Outreach Coordinator (problem gambling awareness)

Duties
Prevention Specialist/Outreach Coordinator is a 10-month position (September-June) delivering problem/disordered gambling prevention education in elementary schools, middle schools, and the community (as needed). Prevention Specialists� responsibilities include: delivering a research-based curriculum�WannaBet? and Smart Choices�to whole classrooms (and small groups on occasion) in 4-5 lesson units; identifying high-risk children appropriate for small group interventions; market programs and set lesson-delivery schedules; conducting community workshops for parents and others, and professional development training for teachers and administrators (as appropriate); completing required reporting data on a timely basis, including teacher/school evaluations; administering pre- and post-instruction surveys at acceptable participation levels; meeting submission deadlines; and training/overseeing the Prevention Specialist II position. Prevention Specialists are required to comply with the terms of the Personnel Policy Handbook, demonstrate 690 hours of direct service in the field each academic year, and assist CADEkids in meeting requirements for Pennsylvania prevention specialist certification.

A Prevention Specialist is responsible for achieving CADEkids� goals of promoting safe and respectful school environments and meeting the needs of his/her assigned schools. To this end, a Prevention Specialist should seek to become an integral part of each school�s educational team, and perform reasonable duties as requested by school and CADEkids� administrative staff.

Skills
Oral and written expression at a professional level. Marketing skills to promote program buy-in by school personnel. Ability to use MS Word and MS Excel for reporting and evaluation purposes, with particular attention to accurate and readable Daily Stats Log worksheet reporting.

Supervision
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Administrative Team.

Background Checks
At date of hire and before the beginning of each academic year, Prevention Specialists must complete FBI, PA Criminal Record, and PA Child Abuse History Clearance background checks.

Education/Experience
A Bachelor�s Degree (preferred) or equivalent experience, such as paid experience as a group leader or instructor in affective education, community-based youth programming, drug and alcohol abuse prevention, or treatment in a clinical capacity.

Salary
$36,000-$38,000 plus $2,000 sign-on bonus
