POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pharmacy Technician will assist and support a registered pharmacist with the management of prescriptions for high dollar specialty medications, that are used for complex conditions. This role will require the need to work within multiple computer systems simultaneously as you to coordinate initial set up and ongoing treatment plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Filling prescription medications accurately and efficiently in all areas of our specialty pharmacy by utilizing the necessary technologies for each area.
• Investigate prescription benefits.
• Performing data entry of new and refill prescription orders accurately and assignment of directions.
• Triage telephone calls.
• Respond to Third Party rejections and overrides.
• Refill Authorization Management.
• Queue prescriptions for future fills based on adherence and compliance.
• Responsible for reversing prescriptions, when necessary.
• Understand the various challenges of specific diseases.
• Maintain patient records and file according to company procedures.
• Update patient clinical information based on reports from prescribers and patient assessment.
• Check for accuracy in packaging, labeling and shipping medications to patients and physicians.
• Work is frequently completed without established procedures.
• Annual training for URAC, ACHC and other programs.
• Enroll qualified patients in manufacturer copay programs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Must be a registered pharmacy technician; certified pharmacy technician is preferred.
• Experience in a Specialty or Infusion Pharmacy is preferred, but not required.
• Experience with medical insurance a plus.
• Experience with RX30 is a plus.
• Proactively identifies solutions to non-standard requests.
• Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Strong math aptitude in order to compute rate, ratio and percentage.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other departments and teams.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required.
