Position: Operations Assistant
Location: Olympia/Hybrid
Salary: $40,000/year + Employer paid health, dental and vision insurance
Supervisor: Executive Director

About the Washington Student Association:
The Washington Student Association is a statewide 501(c)4 organization that represents over 140,000 college students across the state of Washington. Our association brings together students on campus and in the legislature to advance our mission of making Washington’s higher education system more affordable, accessible, and inclusive for all.

About the Position:
Our organization is growing, and we want you to be a part of it! This position will focus on internal communications, supporting new programming, and helping to keep us organized. This is a hybrid/virtual eligible position with some required travel to our Olympia office. The ideal candidate will have a background in nonprofit or business administration, is extremely well organized, and is comfortable leading independent projects. This is an administrative position, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting students in their advocacy efforts and taking on administrative tasks.

Essential Functions:

Member Engagement & Support: 50%
Assist in the planning of WSA member meetings
Provide administrative support such as developing agendas, powerpoint presentations, following up, organizing resources, and ensuring easy access to information
Keep contact lists organized and regularly updated
Provide on-campus administrators with information about meetings and advocacy opportunities
Manage the WSA’s Thru Text account (submitting FOIA requests)






CTC Liaison Program (new programming support): 25%
Provide administrative support for the CTC Legislative Fellowship (leading recruitment/hiring efforts, coordinating internship credits, PDC compliance, planning for orientation, creating program materials, and coordinating travel accommodations.)
Schedule and coordinate meetings with legislators for the Lobby day/during legislative session
Support logistical planning for the Lobby Day

General Administrative Support: 25%
File annual and monthly reports with the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC)
Assist with financial management (processing invoices, producing grant reports, and filing expense reports.)
Coordinate logistics for staff and member travel (booking accommodations)
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
A passion for making Washington’s higher education system more equitable, affordable, and inclusive for all Washingtonians, and a distinct commitment to racial equity
A postsecondary degree/certificate in nonprofit management, business management, communications, or a related field
Two additional years of experience may substitute for educational experience
One to two years of experience in nonprofit/business operations, as an office manager/assistant, or other relevant experience
Must have exceptional organizational skills and proven track record of taking initiative on independent projects
Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites

Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or other related field
Graphic design abilities (social media posts, flyers, etc.) is a plus
Experience working with postsecondary institutions/students
Prior student government/leadership experience
Experience with event planning, planning for nonprofit meetings, and compiling professional reports
Understanding of how the Public Records Act and compliance with the Public Disclosure Commission

This position is full time, permanent, and salaried at $40,000/year. The WSA offers a competitive benefits package which includes a health care stipend of up to $350/month and a technology reimbursement of $75/month. In addition, the WSA offers a flexible work schedule and unlimited sick and vacation leave with an expectation that all employees take a minimum of 10 vacation days per year in addition to 18 paid federal and state holidays. This position is a hybrid position, with most work taking place at our Olympia office.
