A collaborative, connected, and growing family based in Chicago is seeking a self-starting and engaged nanny to join their crew!
Location: Chicago, IL
Ages of children: 2-year-old girl, and baby #2 on the way in January 2023.
Start date/Contract dates: As soon as they find the right fit!
Schedule: Full-time, guaranteeing 40+ hours per week. The candidate can anticipate working 8-12 hours/day with some days being 8am-5pm, and others 2pm-11pm. The family’s schedule is solidified and provided to the nanny at least one month in advance, and the candidate will always have two consecutive days off/week. A candidate who is open to travel, evening, and weekend care with advanced notice, and collaborating with the family on designing upcoming schedules will be key.
Compensation: The family is offering $30-35/hour based on the 40-hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $62k-73k/year range dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule. The family may be open to candidates who are seeking a higher compensation package commensurate with experience.
Benefits: The family is open to providing benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, health insurance stipend, and relocation assistance based on candidate need and the full benefits package.
Live-in/Live-out: Live-in. A fully-furnished coach house attached to the main house is available to the nanny. The coach house has a private entrance and is fully furnished with its own bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room.
Household dynamic:
The family’s two-year-old daughter is active, funny, engaging, and boisterous! She loves to chat, explore new things, and have fun using her imagination at home. Finding delight in big adventures and rediscovering everyday objects and bringing them new life is a skill she has perfected. She loves to travel, explore new destinations, and be outdoors. This adventurous toddler currently attends school 3 half days each week. She is also enrolled in extracurricular activities on non-school days to support her love of movement and connection.
Being together as a family is very important for this tight-knit group and that includes their nanny! They are excited to welcome their nanny in as an essential part of their team and hope to grow together for years to come. This family is excited to welcome their new baby in January and looks forward to watching their daughter become a big sister!
Dad works in and out of the home and occasionally has evening work commitments or weekend commitments that require both parents to attend. The family provides at least a month’s notice for schedule changes. Finding a candidate who is open to adjusting weekly schedules to meet this need will be key. The family loves to travel and often spends 3-6 weeks somewhere warm in January/February, frequenting destinations like Palm Springs and NYC throughout the year. They have plans to visit Israel and the Mediterranean in the next year, and they look forward to having their nanny join them!
Ideal candidate:
This position is ideal for someone who likes to take charge of planning fun activities with the child, whether at home or while traveling. A candidate who is a clear communicator and enjoys working with a team will thrive alongside this family, especially as they work to transition from newborn care to long-term nanny care! Someone who possesses recent infant and toddler experience and who exhibits a true love for working with children and families will excel in this role.
This family is looking for someone who takes pride in their work, shows initiative, is a frequent and clear communicator and understands the value of discretion. With baby number two on the way, a candidate who is flexible to support the family’s changing needs will be key to ensuring a smooth transition as they grow!
While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to welcome a candidate with a background in child development or early childhood education. The family is happy to offer on-the-job training for a candidate who hasn’t had a chance to travel with a family in the past, though travel nanny experience would be a big bonus!
Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license
Valid passport
Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 prior to starting date in accordance with applicable laws,
3 years of professional childcare experience
Recent experience working with toddlers and infants
Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones
