Science Teacher
General Purpose
To plan, organize and implement an appropriate science instructional program in a technology based learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
� Teach fields of science using NGSS to middle school students on various learning levels.
� Prepare and deliver weekly science lesson plans incorporating math, science and technology.
� Set-up and monitor classroom testing environment to administer tri-annual Northwestern Evaluation Association (NWEA) and annual District of Columbia PARCC tests.
� Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs and development.
� Monitor individual students progress and provide appropriate feedback regularly to students, parents and (MS)2 administration regarding student progress needs.
� Update and maintain student attendance records and grades accurately and completely in PowerSchool as required by law and (MS)2 policies.
� Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the guidelines of the (MS)2 Student Handbook and apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
� Participate in department, school and parent meetings and/or conferences.
� Integrate educational technology into daily lessons
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree or higher in subject area from an accredited a U.S. college or university
Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and/or Highly Qualified
Relevant teaching experience
Knowledge of relevant technology, or ability to be trained to efficiently use technology
Current authorization to work in the United States.
