About the Role

Pedal Movement is seeking Micromobility Field Technicians to help manage and support a micromobility fleet in the Seattle area. Pedal Movement seeks a professional who is passionate about making Seattle an even more bike and scooter-friendly city and who is highly motivated to work with an evolving micromobility program. This is a seasonal position available now through an expected end date of October 2022.

Pedal Movement encourages applicants who are experienced in working with bicycles, scooters, and other forms of micromobility devices, though we will consider all applicants equally regardless of experience. Training on the technical and unique aspects of system assets will be provided. Applicants should have commercial or personal driving experience (with a clean record). A valid (non-commercial) driver’s license is required for this position. All candidates will be subject to motor vehicle records and background checks, the results of which will not impact whether a job is offered.

Core position duties may include: general field operations including logistics and special events, maintenance and repair of system assets and equipment, documenting activities in the software portal, rebalancing of the fleet, driving vehicles, lifting and loading bicycles & other equipment, and responding to basic customer inquiries. Additional duties may be assigned as available and needed.

Key Aspects of Position:
-Drive work van/truck, load/unload batteries, scooters, & bicycles.
-Inspect and evaluate bicycles for safety, functionality, and cleanliness.
-Perform routine battery changes, cleaning, and minor repairs as necessary.
-Identify and report bicycles in need of in-house repair.
-Identify, report, and work to resolve system malfunctions and/or problems.
-Use software and written forms to record accurate documentation of field activities.
-Maintain clean and organized tools and workspaces.
-Willingness to pilot an electric cargo bicycle.
-Adhere to all safety protocols.
-Experience exposure to varying weather conditions during all 4 seasons as this is a year-round, and primarily outdoor position.
-Interact with current and potential customers in public—represent Pedal Movement responsibly and effectively.

Preferred Experience and Skills
-1+ years experience as a bike mechanic or micromobility operations staffer preferred, though not required
-Ability to assemble, disassemble, and identify different bicycle components and tools
-Ability to prioritize and follow instructions from other staff
-Mechanical and technical aptitude, ability to creatively and collaboratively solve problems
-Comfort & experience driving a large van/truck and comfort riding electric bicycles and scooters
-Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required, with ability to pass MVR check
-Basic computer skills
-Flexible availability at night and on weekends
-Comfortable with fast-paced response times for assigned tasks
-Excellent time management and organization skills
-Ability to lift up to 60 lbs; stoop, bend, sit, and stand for long periods
-Strong communication skills, positive attitude
-Ability to be both self-directed and work well in a collaborative team environment
-Interpersonal skills: maintain confidentiality, keep an open mind, be patient
-Excitement and interest in micromobility is a must!

Employment Details

This is a seasonal, full-time, non-exempt position at approximately 40 hours per week, though Pedal Movement is flexible on both the number of hours and full-time/part-time status. Pedal Movement has both day and night shifts available and will most likely offer higher wages to employees who work night shifts. Full-time employees will be offered employer-sponsored healthcare, dental, and vision coverage, access to an employer-matching 401K retirement plan, and a slate of other voluntary benefits. All Micromobility Field Technicians are eligible to receive performance-based bonuses. Pedal Movement is based in Long Beach, CA and Seattle, WA and retains both remote office operations as well as brick and mortar locations.
