About Community Does It
Founded in April of 2021, Community Does It is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower marginalized populations through knowledge, resources, and support systems to become agents of the change they see necessary for their community, especially in regard to public health. Community Does It uses a combination of Community-Based Participatory Action Research (CBPAR), grassroots organizing and traditional public health to employ a new approach to public health: for the community by the community.

Community Does It is currently seeking TWO bilingual mental health therapists for our first center for family mental health services, Cuenta Conmigo, located in the Pleasant Grove community in Dallas.

Job Summary
The Mental Health Therapist at Cuenta Conmigo is responsible for providing individual and group psychotherapy with clients and families, conducting treatment planning, and if applicable, conducting assessments. The licensed individual uses a basic knowledge of diagnostic characteristics, knowledge of symptoms of mental illness to provide services in a person-centered, supportive, multidisciplinary, community-based environment. In addition, the Mental Health Therapist collaborates with other members of the team to design and deliver curriculum to support families and clients in understanding their diagnosis and resources available through workshops and support groups. The position may also function as a clinical supervisor and support staff to assigned interns or volunteers within the center seeking to complete their clinical hours for licensure.

General Responsibilities
• As a start-up, in collaboration with other team members, co-create and co-lead design of our counseling department operations and services and performance and quality of service metrics.
• Potentially, supervise potential interns or volunteers, and guide them in their growth and development as counselors. (only if licensed to supervise)
• In collaboration with Director of Educational and Family Support Programs and Director of Counseling, assist in the design and implementation of family support curricula via workshops, individualized family meetings, educational materials or support groups.
• Participate and lead semi-annual focus groups with community members to obtain feedback and continuous assessment of community needs.
• Complete intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
• Complete Psychological testing as needed and as allowed by licensure for clarification of diagnosis.
• Provide psychotherapy in person or virtually to individuals, families or in the form of support groups.
• Documents services in the automated record keeping system within 24 hours after services have occurred.
• Maintains confidentiality of information concerning consumers and family members.
• Participate in continuing educational activities as required by appropriate licensing bodies, provide copies of CEU attendance, share learned knowledge with team members, and maintain current status on all agency required training.

Other Support
• Assist with scheduling of services.
• Assist with and attend monthly health fairs.
• Participate in staff meetings, community meetings, and board meetings.
• Maintain work area clean.


Qualifications and Competencies
• Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar setting preferred but not required.
• Fluent in English and Spanish required (verbal, reading and writing).
• Experienced and trained in trauma-informed care practices.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the diagnostic process and tools.
• Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the ethical standards of conduct, state contract, appropriate professional standards, and applicable state/federal laws
• Analytical skills, professional acumen, business ethics, thorough understanding of continuous improvement processes, problem solving, respect for confidentiality, and excellent communication skills.
• Able to work autonomously with minimal or no supervision.
• Comfortable working in a team-oriented, and collaborative environment.
• Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines
• Open to growth and feedback.
• Appreciates a happy work environment and welcomes a good sense of humor.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage people.
• Passionate.
• Experience with Community-Based Participatory Research methodology a plus.
• Experience working with or living in Latino immigrant communities a plus.
• Perform the physical demands of the position - working indoors with long periods of time sitting; listening and speaking; viewing monitor and workstation.


Certifications/Licenses
• LPC or LMFT
• Play therapy certification or willingness to obtain it
• License to supervise or willingness to obtain within 18 months

Compensation
Salaries start at $60,000 and are based on experience and qualifications. Medical, dental and vision benefits and paid time off.
