Membership and Development Associate

Reports to: Executive Director
Location: San Jos� Institute of Contemporary Art
Type: Full-time, Non-exempt

The Membership and Development Associate is responsible for the ICA�s fundraising and membership program with a focus on building relationships and stewarding long-time members/donors. They manage membership renewals, retention, recruitment, tracking, and reporting. They will create and implement a plan to carry out a range of development activities including retention of current members, donors, and foundations. They also provide support for the annual fall auction fundraiser and various, smaller engagement and cultivation events.

Additionally, they oversee interactions with the public through the implementation of content strategies on social media platforms. Their duties include analyzing engagement data, identifying trends in audience interactions and planning digital campaigns to build community online while coordinating with our Public Programs and Communications Associate on roll out. Additionally, they facilitate contact between museum members and oversee all out-going communication and collateral related to our membership program

Principal Responsibilities:

Coordinate the annual appeal, membership appeals and renewals including:
Contemporary Collector appeal, preparing and distributing renewal letters/invoices/packets, overseeing production of mailing lists and preparing all gift acknowledgement letters.
Manage the donor database, currently eTapestry, including overseeing all data entry, cleanup and tracking.
Work with graphic design and print contractors to produce high-quality membership marketing and promotional materials to meet deadlines.
Represent ICA and conduct in-person outreach at events, one-on-one meetings and other opportunities as needed.
Assist members and potential members with event registration RSVPs by providing a high degree of customer service on the phone, in person, and via email.
Work with the Executive Director to plan and execute all special events including mini-trips and local day trips; and the relaunch of the national Contemporary Collectors Art trip.
Ensure there is a membership presence at exhibition openings, general public programming and any other special ICA events.
Provide consulting and support for grant opportunities. Will include grant writing, pitching, deadline management.
Assist the Executive Director with the planning and execution of events and engagement activities at C3+ levels.
Develop a comprehensive membership calendar with goals, events, promotions and marketing.
Point person for all Facility Rentals. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Deputy Director.
Oversee and manage ICA�s website, social media and email marketing content. This includes working with graphic designers to create necessary assets for the website and larger marketing campaigns.
Oversee digital marketing partnerships and collaborations with different institutions including providing assets, media, and text for event and exhibition cross promotions.
Research digital marketing trends and latest platforms and keep strategies up-to-date.
Ensure digital content aligns with exhibition communications and other museum marketing campaigns.
Qualifications

Proactive and adept problem-solver
Experience working with donor relations and databases, with a keen eye for social media trends
2-4 years of related experience
