Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-Tech) is hiring Marine Mechanics at Naval Station Norfolk. We provide full spectrum Operations and Maintenance support of various combatant craft, patrol boats, Special Operations Forces platforms, and coastal craft ensuring performance and fleet readiness. You'd be responsible for the preventative maintenance, service, repair, troubleshooting, and testing of marine inboard and outboard engines and associated transportation equipment. The focus of the job is to troubleshoot equipment onboard naval small boats and test craft, check functionality of newly installed equipment, and evaluate systems’ performance underway during actual operating conditions.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with either a first shift (0700-1530) or second shift (0830-1700), Monday thru Friday. Work will be performed inside and outside enclosed buildings and will include sitting, standing, walking, light lifting, and reaching. Periodically, you'd be required to be underway onboard navy small craft serving as chief engineer.

Education/Experience/Skills:
High School diploma or equivalent

U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, OEM, or related trade school training preferred

Minimum of 2 years of maritime engine repair experience with deep familiarity with Honda, Yamaha, Mercury, Evinrude, or other common industry outboard/outdrive motors

OEM Certifications highly desirable

Familiarity with MTU, Cummins, Caterpillar, or Steyr Diesel Engines a plus

Ability to read, write and follow technical directives correctly

U.S. Citizenship and obtain a DoD Interim Secret Clearance before hire and maintain clearance throughout employment

All candidates will be required to pass a consumer report and/or consumer investigation to include SSN, Driver Record and Criminal Background Investigation

Familiarity in operation, maintenance, and repair of small craft trailers, transporters, and prime movers a plus

Possess a valid driver’s license. CDL highly preferred. Must be able to be insured through Company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of your work employment.
