Director of Science Education
Fascinate-U Children’s Museum is looking for a Director of Science Education to elevate the museum’s curriculum-based programming to the next level. This full-time position is responsible for the development and implementation of hands-on, concrete, informal science experiences for ages pre-K through fifth grade.
Responsibilities
In-house, outreach and virtual program development, production and presentation/facilitation for mixed audiences, classroom field trips, and summer camps
Informal science education programming for pre-K through 5th grade
Initiate new program ideas, partnerships and revenue sources
Maintain science program schedule in coordination with front house staff
Keep abreast of national and state standards in science education
Adapt programs for age level appropriateness
Monitor and maintain resources used for all programs and special events
Take photos and keep program attendance records
Coordinate with FSU’s Service Learning Program for program volunteers
Organize annual Super Science Funfest event
Learn front house procedures for opening and closing, greeting visitors, answering phones, running cash register, maintaining exhibit cleanliness, and birthday party procedures to work one weekend/month
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university in Education or STEM related-field
Experience interacting with diverse communities
Strong collaborative, communication and writing skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others
Proficient in Google Documents, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Excel
Ability to lift 30 pounds
Valid Driver’s License
Additional Qualifications
Experience in inquiry-based learning experiences
Informal Education experience in group settings
Comfortable handling and caring for live animals
Proven success in grant writing
Compensation and Benefits
Full time salaried position ( $32,00 - $40,000)
