Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Prior experience and/or training resulting in a Dental Assisting certificate required; S.C. X-Ray certification a plus.

Physical Demands:

· Denture Hall Dental Assistants are expected to complete three impressions per hour.
**All dental assistants will also be expected to complete CPR training (and keep certification current).
***All assistants working in the restorative, surgical or sedation departments are required to obtain X-ray certification within six months of date hired.

Duties:
· Follow all administrative procedures and policies of Sexton Dental Clinic, Inc.
· Follow all instructions of the attending dentist.
· Communicate with patients in a professional, caring manner, helping minimize stress of both the patients and the staff.
· Introduce yourself and seat patients.
· Review the patient’s medical history and discuss the history and the important aspects pertaining to the patient’s treatment with the attending dentist.
· Utilize the appropriate infection control measures as mandated by OSHA, DHEC and policies of Sexton Dental Clinic.
· Assist dentist with the dental impressions (three per hour); Make appropriate dental adjustments under the supervision of the dentist.
· Assist the dentist with any dental procedure as directed by the attending dentist.
· Know and be able to communicate the fees for various procedures offered.
· Write prescriptions under the direction of the dentist and record the medication prescribed in the patient’s record.
· Clean and disinfect the operatories after each patient has been treated and dismissed.
· Keep all operatories stocked with the appropriate expendable dental materials utilized by the dentists.
· Make thorough, legible entries in the patient’s dental chart as directed by the dentist.
· Sign and date all entries made in the patient’s dental chart.
· Report any and all patient complaints to the attending dentist.
· Perform any task not mentioned above as directed by the attending dentist.
