Camp Counselor
Camp Counselor

Counselors are the guides for our campers. Responsible for the well-being of six to ten campers each week, they’re expected to create a safe environment for each camper to learn and grow. Counselors will be assigned to different camp programs each week and will move between on-site and off-site programs, including day camps. Depending on the week, they may be asked to work with children from kindergarten through high school, plus families and developmentally disabled adults. While on-site, counselors will stay in a cabin with their assigned campers and guide them through the day’s activities, including eating with them, leading Bible studies, participating in their activities (such as hiking, swimming, archery, and ropes) and then debriefing with them, leading worship, and more. Off-site, they live in homestays overnight and lead Vacation Bible School-like activities during the day, working with local volunteers. Like all summer staff at Mt. Cross, counselors have their primary function, but may be occasionally required to work and lead in any-and-all areas, including kitchen, cleaning, grounds, office, leading games, etc.
