Mikayla’s Voice Program Coordinator-contractor, part-time, $30/hr
Job Description

Inspired by and designed to showcase children’s talent and creativity, our unique and innovative programs allow children to enjoy and demonstrate successful inclusion as they work, play, and learn together. Mikayla’s Voice inclusive programming initiatives in the arts, education, and sports and recreation show inclusion is possible in all aspects of life, are all well established, have enjoyed significant growth, and are positioned for even greater success.

Current program priorities include our Wheels of Friendship® art program, Tri for Inclusion® youth triathlon, and inclusive books and school assemblies. Mikayla’s Voice Program Coordinators will lead and facilitate assemblies and Wheels of Friendship® art projects in schools for grades k-12, report directly to the Executive Director, and serve as ambassadors for our organization, it’s message, and mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific to Inclusion Assemblies:
1. Schedule inclusion assemblies in school buildings.
- Two assemblies per school.
- Break into smaller groups by age/grade when possible.
- Ensure students with and without disabilities participate in the assemblies.
2. Ensure equipment for assembly is arranged with school personnel
- Laptop with USB port.
- Projector and display screen.
- Audio/Speakers.
- Microphone
- For virtual assemblies, forward the virtual assembly technology information to principals.
3. Lead age appropriate inclusion assemblies in school buildings.
4. Utilize Mikayla’s Voice books, PowerPoints, and videos at assemblies as needed

5. Coordinate presentation with child or young adult with a disability and a family member.
6. Discuss the importance of inclusion, kindness, and friendship for EVERYONE.
7. Field any questions from students after the book reading.
8. Conclude each assembly with an invitation for all students to serve as “Mikayla’s “Voice” at their school.
9. Arrange for students to greet and bid farewell to child or young adult with a disability and their family member.

Specific to Wheels of Friendship® projects:

1. Schedule inclusive class or group (approximately 25) for Wheels of Friendship art project.
2. Ensure students and young adults with and without disabilities participate.
3. Schedule (4) one-hour sessions:
- first session for brainstorming.
- three more for art production.
4. Ensure space requirements:
- Tables or groups of desks to work on.
- An open floor for wheelchair painting.
- A sink for painting.
5. Facilitate brainstorming session.
6. Prepare canvas and materials for art production.
7. Request staff and/or parent volunteers.
8. Suggest children bring smocks or old t-shirts.
9. Organize and bring all art supplies.
10. Take high-resolution photo of final artwork.
11. Coordinate frames with vo-tech.
12. Stretch canvases and deliver.
13. Arrange for artwork unveiling at school assembly or community event.
14. Utilize Mikayla’s Voice books, PowerPoints, and videos at assemblies as needed.
15. Purchase supplies as needed and submit for reimbursement.
16. Note any unusual expenses to Program Director.

General Responsibilities:

1. Act as a liaison with building principal and special education staff.
2. Provide login to Mikayla's Bookshelf, add the school, set the username and password, and email information to the district contact person.
3. Provide Act 48 professional development trainings to school staff.
4. Implement Mikayla’s Voice’s programming with highest quality and integrity.
5. Enhance and protect Mikayla’s Voice’s image.
6. Provide clearance certificates to school personnel when requested.
7. Coordinate donation of Mikayla’s Voice books to schools.
8. Send surveys and data measures for program research requirements.
9. Take photographs and secure permission from school administration.
10. Coordinate publicity for the assemblies and art projects.
- Local newspapers.
- TV news coverage.
11. Prepare comprehensive quarterly progress report on all activities.
12. Complete and submit expense report to Executive Director.
13. Assist in securing program grants.
14. Additional Responsibilities as designated by the Executive Director.
