Milestales is a Long Island-based LLC that empowers students to explore social-emotional and social justice concepts such as self-esteem, respect for all, diversity, growth mindset, grit, body autonomy, criminal justice, and environmental activism through the power of analyzing classic fables. Milestales also challenges students to write, publish, and perform their own stories.
The company uses story analysis and storytelling performance as tools for students to engage with historical and modern issues so that students can create cultural and creative products for positive social change.
Milestales teaching artist will lead students in reflecting on challenging issues and then later encourage students to find their own creative voices in developing their own stories.
This is a flexible position that is on-demand. It is perfect for a freelance writer or actor with the flexibility to work on a project basis.

Teaching artists will teach classes on-site at locations in NYC, Nassau County, and Suffolk County.
Additionally, teaching artists may teach virtual classes.
Ideal candidate;
Experience in education, theater, musical theater, playwriting, improvisation, literature, folklore and mythology, and or the social sciences
Experience working in urban and suburban schools with preschool, elementary, or middle school students
Experience in classroom management with skills in customizing curriculums for students of varied abilities
Spanish Speaking teachers are a plus.
Must be vaccinated and willing to work in person in schools.
