KCH Event Equipment Rental LLC (KCH Rental) is a Black and Woman-Owned business that supplies event rental equipment. Here at KCH Rental, we supply nearly every type of party you can imagine. From small & large tents to tables, chairs, dishes & linens, we rent it! The Warehouse Associates work cohesively with team members to deliver, install, and strike event rentals throughout the DMV. JOB DESCRIPTION

You will learn or may already have the skills to do the following:

  • Load and unload vehicles/trucks and deliver equipment in full or partial loads working with Delivery Diver.
  • Protect inventory through proper use of material handling and proper loading of company vehicles.
  • Inspect all inventory upon pickup for stains, damage, and/or missing pieces and communicate any findings with the supervisor.
  •  Maintain a clean, quality, and accurate inventory of items.
  •  Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse and company vehicles.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • May be required to assist customers with reservations, contracts, questions, register transactions and order adjustments if necessary.
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
  • Must have a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English. The ability to speak other languages is a plus.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lb.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Self-motivated individuals that require little to no supervision.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to reach, bend squat and push with repetition.

 

TASKS & ACTIVITIES

Loading Company Trucks or Pallets:

  • Move equipment according to the computer-generated list.
  • Prep equipment, if necessary, prior to loading.
  • Check off each piece of equipment as loaded.
  • Secure equipment to the vehicle according to company procedure.
  • If there is something that can’t be loaded, call the supervisor.
  • Be responsible for everything loaded. (Count and inspect it.)
  • Load all miscellaneous supplies such as cleaning supplies, hammers, tie straps, screwdrivers, bags, boxes, etc.

Unloading Company Trucks or Pallets:

  • Do not unload without paperwork.
  • Check off each piece of equipment.
  • Assist driver in unloading equipment.
  • Put everything in the proper place as it comes off the truck.
  • Inform the supervisor if trucks come back poorly loaded, trash in trucks, damaged equipment, etc.

 

 

  • Equipment must be ready in advance of the loading date — check with the supervisor to get all deliveries and client pickup ready.
  • Assist Warehouse Manager with the in-bound truck checklist.
  • Greet and assist customers, if needed, with loading and unloading of rental equipment. Be sure the customer understands the proper usage and safety features of rented equipment.  If loading, securely fasten equipment to the customer’s vehicle.
  • Follow “Ready to Rent” cleaning procedures, which may include the use of pressure washers, chemicals, and when necessary, kitchen and laundry cleaning equipment.
  • After cleaning, thoroughly check the operation of the equipment and look for missing fasteners, parts, etc.
  • If items are not working properly or have missing parts, be sure notify the supervisor.
  • Keep warehouse and pickup areas clean and neat — keep all shelves free of dust, keep the floor swept, etc.
  • Stock pickup area/pallet.
  • Keep all rental equipment neat.
  • Communicate with the supervisor.
  • Report safety violations to the supervisor.
  • Fill in for other positions, when necessary, for the smooth operation of the business.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in written or verbal form.
  • Comply with government safety requirements and other regulations and security in the warehouse.
  • Attend department, warehouse, and safety meetings.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Sign your timecard at the end of each pay period.

 

NATURE OF THE WORK

The work is typically very physical and demanding, both from strength requirements and the stamina required.  Will help customers and delivery personnel load and unload vehicles.  Will also help maintain inventory.  Shipping and receiving functions, from light to heavy, are also performed.  Janitorial responsibilities, both inside and outside the premises, are also involved. You will be a direct assistant to the Warehouse Manager. You will help him/her with whatever is needed on any given day.  

 

WORKING CONDITIONS           

Must stand for long periods of time. Most work will be outdoors with general warehouse conditions, in which most work areas will not be heated or air-conditioned.  This job requires constant interaction with co-workers and with the public. This position requires frequent lifting and a significant degree of walking, bending, and transporting objects of various weights and dimensions. May have exposure to chemicals, including but not limited to gasoline, propane, and cleaning solvents.  Propane is an obvious hazard; hence a sense of smell is required.

 

EDUCATION, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must maintain a professional personal appearance.
  • Must possess customer relations skills.
  • Must be able to use mathematics to solve problems.
  • Computer knowledge is preferred. Training on rental software will be provided.
  • Must be able to speak English clearly and write legibly. The ability to speak other languages is a plus.
  • Must pass a drug screen.
  • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
  • Must have a full range of motion and dexterity.
  • Must be able to understand and follow instructions furnished in written, oral, and scheduled form.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with co-workers.

 

Reports to: Warehouse Manager or Director of Operations

 

Schedule:

  • 4-hour shift
  • 6-hour shift
  • Weekend availability
