Children's Creative Project is looking for Teaching Artists to teach visual arts, dance, theatre, music or new media arts in the Five Cities Area. (Opportunities also in Santa Maria Bonita, Guadalupe and Lompoc).

Status: Part-time with possibility of full-time work, Independent Contractor position
Start Date: Mid-August, with flexibility
Compensation: $35+ per workshop, (the rate is dependent on the site)
Schedule: This is dependent on the site and your availability but it would need to be during the school day between the hours of 8:30-3:00 pm.

REQUIREMENTS
* Two years working with preschool and/or elementary students
* Experience and/or training in your arts discipline
* Strong classroom management skills- must be able to manage a classroom of up to 30 students
* Live Scan certification and TB clearance
* Reliable transportation
* Knowledge of Google Drive

Preferred:
* Degree from an accredited institution or in progress
* Familiarity with and experience teaching California Arts Standards

DESCRIPTION
Teaching artists will lead weekly art classes in their preferred discipline in elementary schools classrooms throughout San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties, many with Title I status. Flexibility and creativity are central to this position due to the nature of working with classroom teachers during the allotted time for arts education.
Highlights of this job include flexible scheduling during school hours, the possibility of after-school work at a higher pay rate, a dedicated school liaison/program associate to assist you in managing your contract, and rewarding work in bringing equitable access to arts education to the youth of Southern California.

ABOUT CHILDREN’S CREATIVE PROJECT
Children’s Creative Project is an organization within the Santa Barbara County Education office dedicated to providing arts experiences for underserved children and collaborating with school districts, artists, and arts organizations to develop arts education programs. Teaching artists for Children’s Creative Project work directly alongside classroom teachers to bring equitable access to arts experience as a positive influence for students in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.
