About Debbie Reed Piano

Debbie Reed Piano has been established to provide quality piano lessons in a positive, rewarding and fun environment. The newer, innovative style of teaching (multiple students at once) allows students to progress at a quicker pace, become excellent sight-readers and solves the issue of the “practice problem” at home.

About the role

I am looking for a few energetic, enthusiastic and highly motivated Piano Teaching Assistants (PTA) to help enhance the quality and facilitate the growth of Debbie Reed Piano Studio. You’ll get to work with children of various ages and educational needs and will primarily be working with beginning and intermediate piano students.

As a Piano Teaching Assistant (PTA), you will work under the supervision of the lead teacher/owner (you will not be alone), and will be available to provide additional assistance and instruction to students who need extra help. You will also assist with various simple administrative tasks and will receive on-the-job training.

To do this job well, you should have an interest in working with young children/teens and a passion for teaching/helping others – specifically in the area of music. You also must be willing to commute to my home to provide in-person lessons.

You will be able to choose from the following teaching days: Tuesday (3:15 - 6:15pm); Wednesday & Thursday (2:15 - 6:15pm), Friday (3pm - 5pm).

  • Answer questions for students – when possible
  • Technical issues: get students plugged in and set up on IPADS as needed
  • Keep track of points earned each week and mark off points when they shop for prizes

Candidate requirements

  • Completion of basic piano curriculum or at least playing at an advanced level. Demonstrating strong piano skills is a must.
  • Must be confident in your own knowledge base – knowing basic notes, rhythm etc.
  • Preferably a music major, but not a requirement.
  • Experience working with children is preferred or at least a desire to work with them
  • Punctual, easygoing, reliable, and professional.
