Position Title: Personal Trainer/Small Group Coach

Qualifications: (Required education, experience, licensure/certification and required skills and abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year college or university in a health-related, exercise science, kinesiology, or physical education major required. 
  • Prior work experience or an internship in the fitness industry required. 
  • CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire. 
  • Current personal training certification.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work with clients in a positive, service based manner. 
  • Ability to multitask and maintain a controlled and professional demeanor. 
  • Proficient computer skills. 
  • Insurance policy for training.

 

Job Relationships

Reports to: Fitness Manager as designated

Interrelationships: Members, guests, employees, and healthcare professionals

 

Position Purpose/General Summary

The purpose of the Personal Trainer is to provide clients with training programs specific to the client’s individual needs with three major goals of improving overall strength, reducing injuries and teaching lifelong fitness and movement skills. Must devise training programs according to sound scientific principles, supervises training sessions, evaluates clients, maintains records, and teaches small group private training sessions. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Design and implement strength and conditioning programs for a variety of different clients.
  2. Lead individual and small group training sessions to clients of varying fitness levels. 
  3. Provide supervision and basic exercise instructions for members.
  4. Screen health history information, take baseline measurements, and make recommendations related to their fitness goals. 
  5. Schedule and perform all appointments for fitness assessments and personal training sessions.
  6. Maintain all member information in a secure area. 
  7. Promotes and effectively sell all ancillary services including, but not limited to, assessment exercise prescriptions, personal training, small group private training, JL Fitness app, and nutritional products. 
  8. Maintain knowledge of all events and activities at the facility. 
  9. Arrive as a first responder to all medical emergencies with urgency and complete incident report. All incident reports will be reported to the manager then owner. 
  10. Assist in the planning and implementation of member retention programs. 
  11. Maintain cleanliness of equipment, inspect equipment, upholstery and report and required maintenance or repair. 
  12. Be proficient in all core business software as it relates to job duties and responsibilities.
  13. The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to facility hours, work schedules and scheduling appointments for prospects and members. 
  14. Must meet all safety requirements and certifications necessary to perform job duties. 
  15. Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and confidence communicating with EMS. 
  16. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during interactions and work related relationships with all persons as the facility including but not limited to members, guests, and employees. 
  17. Ability to lift 45 pounds. 
  18. Other duties as assigned.
